no [ iron ] horses + top ramen

just posing... no more bikes.

Saturday morning S. and I woke up around uh… 7.30. Excited about last night we start to catch up with each others version of what happened. Luckily, both versions were almost the same, meaning we weren’t all that gone. We were pretty disappointed in the fact that the pool was closed and there was absolutely no room service whatsoever available in the hotel.

We decided that before we would leave to go downhill biking, it might be beneficial to hae a good breakfast so we made our way down. In our PJ’s. Very classy. The receptionist shared our opinion, however, she was very helpful and sent us over to this kick ass little breakfast joint. Again. S. and I were chatting about how excited we are for snow and last night blah blah. Girl Talk.

After the most amazing morning after breakfast anyone could have wished for we made our way back. Ready to get on that bike. So we call Diablo for 2 rentals + one lesson [my neighbor wasnt there to keep an eye on me and S. had never been dhillin' b4]. The answer was NO. NO instructors and NO bikes.

That sucked.

Not ready to give up on biking quite yet we decided to go to another shop and get our IRON HORSES there. I mean, it was Saturday morning, 10 am… why would there not be any bikes? Again. The answer was NO. They only has one more bike. I guess God just didn’t want us to go downhilling.

Bummed out we decided to pack up and leave to go back home. Driving back home we passed some stables and decided to give it a shot and go do some back country [horseback] riding.  We tried at two different stables. No luck. It just wasn’t our day.

S. had the brilliant idea to go eat some RAMEN. Now, I neer ate any Ramen but TOP RAMEN, so really it didn’t excite me that much. S. on the other hand couldn’t have been more thrilled. So there we went, to Fort Lee to the Japanese shopping mall. The Ramen was good, our brainstorming sesh even better!

WE CAME UP WITH A NAME FOR THE NEW BANDANA COMPANY!

WHOOHOO!

once upon a time up in Creek …

DC Flyer

So yeah, this weekend was the [un] official kick off of the new shred season.

The festivities started on Friday when Sarah came pick me up for our road trip to Mountain Creek in NJ. DC snow had Mack Dawg’s video premiere “Double Decade” , drive in style… so yeah, a car was an essential.

S. and I get along great. We both snowboard, skate, like boys ahum men and cocktail hour, so we had decided that it would be a smart idea to get a room in the posh Appalachian hotel at the bottom of the hill. I have a Mountain Creek pass so we got 20% off lodging… can’t help it… its the Dutch in me, I love discounts… they make me feel good! The plan was to go downhill biking @ Diablo the next day.

We made it out pretty much in time and went to the hotel first to check in/drop off stuff. When we got there we realized we weren’t the only ones who had the marvelous idea to stay over. The hotel was jam packed with snowboarders.

S. and I had a very nice room overlooking the parking lot. It smelled kind of funky, but had a romantic open fire place for those cold and romantic nights that we will most likely never have together. Sarah was getting ready and I wanted to go smoke a cigarette so told her to meet me down stairs whenever she was done. I grabbed my fliers + camera + bag and jumped in the elevator. We were on the 4th floor… The elevator made a stop @ the second floor and this really cute blond guy gets in, looks at me and asks me how I am doing. He had a lovely accent. My heart kind of stopped for a second. What can I say. He was handsome.

Sarah came down, we went to the parking lot @ South and saw that it wasn’t packed [yet], parked the car and walked around, trying to find something to drink. The only option were soft drinks/ cocoa [not even coffee] so we decided to grab some hot stuff and mix it up with the Ketel One in the car. When I was lining up, there were a bunch of kids behind me and all of a sudden S. is all excited because the kids had recognized me as ‘the chick from shredunion’. That was a special moment.

OK, so the movie was uh… great I think, I mean I didn’t really watch it because I was too busy finishing my drink[s] + conversating and we made our way over to the store @ South where the DC riders would be passing out autographs. As we walked in I immediately recognized ‘my’ elevator guy. We lined up. I felt like a teenager and got all the signatures. I actually ended up with 5 while there were only 4 riders… I don’t really get it but hey… its all good. I also got a lovely pair of hot pink skull candy headphones from a very nice stranger. Something tells me he might have something to do with SkullCandy. Haha! I have a bunch of SC’s already, but now I them even more.

We went upstairs and I kept on running into people I hadn’t seen in a while so it was super fun! We had lots of Ketel One + Soda’s and ended up dancing like idiots and having laughs with our new friends at DC. I am the first to admit that I might have had one too many but I wasn’t retarded. We ended up giving one of them a ride back to the hotel and then uh… hahaha … well, we don’t kiss and tell !

It was a fun night.

rooftop party and a flasher

So my friend B. was having a small get together on his rooftop the other day. It was really nicely done… his apartment is amazing! The rooftop was overlooking the Hudson + the Meat Packing District… I so have forgotten how it feels to live in NYC!

The good news was that my ‘wife’ was gonna tag along as well! Whoohoo! It’s always fun when she comes out with us. Trouble… but fun.

So the party was great, lots of drinks and snowboard talk… gettin’ amped for season. Then the wife got the good news: some Navy Seals would come as well. She men in uniform [so if happen to be or know a fire fighter, ups delivery man , navy seal, police man... please drop me a line! I am taking applications]

Comes 3 o’clock, we are totally  drunk ready to go home, so we are looking for a taxi. In the Meatpacking District… on a Saturday night… that was tough. Nevertheless, we were successful in securing a ride and then all of a sudden this [good looking] guy asks us where were going… he had to go to LIC and thats where we had to go as well, so we decided to share the cab [ = it's recession time... remember!]. Anyway, the guy jumps in the middle, big smile on his face and starts whispering to the wife. She’s giggling and I was kind of wondering what was being said that could be so funny… All of a sudden she starts to scream, or kind of like eeeeuw! Put that back, that is disgusting followed by a GET OUT… get out now. The dude is like no I want her to see it… so I look to the right and he’s showing his ‘little friend’. I was not impressed. It was a sad show.

We kicked him out of the car and forgot all about the sharing part, so he didn’t have to pay his half of the taxi ride. I guess that was a super creative alternative to the ‘oops I forgot my wallet’ excuse…

on the agenda this weekend:

Mickey Avalon with the girls! should be a fun night…. earlier that day I will be attending WORDcamp.

It will be a busy Sunday, maybe I will wear my glasses, so maybe people might think I am a bit smarter than I really am…

Saturday night my buddie Brian B is hosting a FALL Rooftop Soiree, so lets pray for some good weather…

huh? what happened?

I think I may haven gotten ditched this weekend. Which was kind of odd… cuz I normally pull one of those….

I guess I am getting old ha!

Anyway, move on to the next subject:

I have a dutch refugee in my house! haha! Just kidding, well sort of… his name is M. and he got relocated to NYC [from Amsterdam] for his work and he needed a place to crash while looking for a place to live. Anything for a fellow Dutchie. Had to fabricate a story for the roommate and family though. Ha! I love Twitter.

For anyone who doesn’t really know me by now. I am really quite nice and would never hurt someone on purpose. I am also from a socialist country and accordingly to one of my friends that’s accountable for one of my weaknesses. The one of being nice and having a conscience.

Here’s the dilemma:

So we have been working on ‘Project Powder’ since Summer. It’s a social networking site for snowboarders… ha! yeah another one! Seriously, we are implementing a bunch of new features on it that all the other ones don’t have, making it more 2008 vs 1998.

So yeah, there is not one site like ours… well that’s what I though until I got see this new site. It was like someone took our blue print/ business plan! Ha! I couldn’t believe it. It sucks because they launched before us and it kind of makes us feel like copy cats, but we are really not, we just had the same [brilliant if I may say so myself] vision, thank God I started the blog in Summer so you can see we’ve been around for a while ha!

Anyway, I haven’t mentioned to JP  about our site, but I want to because I just don’t see why I shouldn’t be able to mention that. It makes me feel kind of dirty for not telling so I decided to just do it, even though my friends told me that there is no reason for it. I don’t know, I just know that it would make me feel better…don’t know why it has been bothering me so much ha!

Oh, and my gfriend Espree from ZEXsports.com is coming by next week! Whoohoo! we are attending SMX -NorthEast and it’ll be fun! It’s always exciting to go with her because we sneak in and stuff…

NYs first [on snow] rail jam of the season :

Boarding House Rail Jam

I am so stoked – happy – proud- excited! My friend HACK [ we were hanging out a bunch last year, strictly platonic though... never ever happened ] from Tannersville is opening his own bar called THE BOARDING HOUSE and the first SNOWBOARDERS HOTEL out East!

Last Winter, while making turns @ Hunter Mountain, we talked about our passions, taking chances and lots of other things. He told me he admires my courage to ‘start’ businesses and that he’d love to do something himself. We kind of stopped talking for a while because I went out West for the rest of Winter [ I am a sucker for Tahoe] and he stayed in T’Ville.

A couple of weeks ago I saw this status update on his myspace account [ yeah, I love myspace ] and I asked him about it. He told me what he had been up to and I just had to do a little dance! Yes! I am THAT excited!

Go Hack! You’re killin’ it and I’ll be your personal cheerleader!

Silicon Alley – My friend is at it again

All this pressure. I cannot take it! Please vote for me haha!

:)

SILICON ALLEY VOTING BOOT

I believe that last year I ended up like being #89 haha! Seriously! I felt very loved!

Sunday morning, being bored…

HOTorNot.com

I did a search for one of my old screen names on SearchMe.com and came across my old LiveJournal account. Totally spaced it out that I had it and I tried to log in with some of my most common passwords.

After 3 tries I was in. I wish everything in life was as easy as cracking my own livejournal account haha.

I read my old diary and I can tell you one thing. I was very unhappy back then. I wanted to post some of the entries but they are just too much. I am not that person anymore and by reading it I feel like I am in that position again, or that I will be judged for having been that person. I know there are millions of women out there that are where I used to be and I wish I could help them in any way.

Ok the funny part: I had my picture enlisted on HOTorNOT.COM and here are the results haha. That’s been such a long time ago!
